Affiliate programs are ruled by a contract. After you've signed up, you recieve an affiliate code or a special address that you use when sending visitors to the owner's web site. That's how the owner identifies your visitor.
The owner's website has to make the sale so it better be good!
Some of them have some sort of clause in their terms that reads like this:
"At any time and in our sole discretion we may modify any of the terms and conditions contained in this agreement by posting changes or a new agreement on our site."
That leaves you without business if the owner decides to stop their programs or lower the commissions. Bye bye to your hard work! Don't be an affiliate for such programs.
And lot's of owners pay you commission on only one product. Once they have your visitor in their database, it's easy to sell other products to them without paying you. You are in fact increasing their profits on back-end products.
Good associate programs:
- should be owned and exploited by a reputable business;
- sell outstanding products that are wanted;
- pay high commissions on all products;
- provide you with all necessary marketing info;
- have an outstanding tracking system so you get paid for your work;
- provide online performance statistics;
- have websites that sells!;

Most people sign up and copy and paste banners or ads provided by the progam on their site and they expect to earn money with that. Well, that's B.S.
It won't work!
Instead, buy the product yourself, use it and write your own review about it. Put YOU into it and include YOUR feelings and opinion. Do not hesitate to tell what you didn't like. That's the only right way to promote affiliate programs. Otherwise you're just another sheep in the horde.
