Best Forums for Internet Marketers according to Phil Wiley | ||||||||

by Phil Wiley Becoming a "name" on the Internet marketing forum scene can drive lots of traffic to your site. So you should set aside some time every day to work the forums or discussion boards. Click here to jump to the forum list, or read on until you get to the list a few paragraphs down When Greg Schieleman first started his jvmarketer web site a couple of years ago he says he got over 250,000 hits to his site in the first month. Much of that, he said, was from working the forums. My own success with forums is far more limited, but I've noticed that my traffic triples when I spend an hour a day answering forum questions, or even posing questions I need answering. So they're well worth participating in. And not just for the extra traffic, and sales, they can bring you. The best forums have become communities of like-minded people... they're meeting places where we can all share our knowledge or seek advice or make friends in the same business as ourselves. If you never visit them you should definitely make a start right now. But.... and it's a big but... with the vast majority of the internet marketing forums you'll just be wasting your time. They either don't have enough traffic to warrant your attention, or they're filled with ads and the spam of people promoting mlm's and affiliate programs. For an example of a bad forum visit my own at http://www.ozemedia.com/bbs It's not been moderated for a long time, so the posts are few, and people just post blatant ads. But I'm also a partner in a good forum at http://www.professionalwebhosting.com/forum/ where the posts are worth reading and responding to. So please pay a visit and let me know what you think. So just what does makes a forum good? * a sense of communityHere's my current top forum list - ranked by the above criteria Anthony Blake's http://www.ablake.net/forum/ Jim Daniel's http://bizweb2000.com/wwwboard/ Jim Wilson's Get high Forums http://www.jimworld.com/apps/webmaster.forums/bin/Ultimate.cgi The Deadlock Message Board http://deadlock.com/bbs/ Friends in Business Board http://www.friendsinbusiness.com/board1/ Steve MacLellan's http://www.homebusiness-websites.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi Greg Schliesmann's http://www.jvmarketer.com/discussion/ Wanda Loskot's http://www.loska.com/successconnection/discussion/ No doubt I've missed out a lot of very good forums. This is a fairly personal list, though they're excellent meeting places. If I've missed out your favorites tell me why they've good and I'll include them in a follow up article.
