Many website owners still fail to generate targeted website traffic.
Lots of people will tell you the best ways to generate that traffic, only they often fail to tell you EXACTLY HOW to do that, usually because they haven't actually done it. In this issue we will talk about some website traffic methods and a great resource to help you completely solve that problem.
The point is, generating website traffic isn't that difficult, but you have to know what you're doing and what you want.
Generating traffic to your blog
For instance, the last few months I gave my blog a serious traffic push.
Search engines (let's call them SE's) LOVE blogs, because they're updated frequently, so there's new and fresh content to present to the SE's customers.
As a result, your blog posts get indexed fast and frequently, IF you provide quality content, that is.
I can check that using Google Alerts. If you sign up for that service and use your name and domain name as keywords, Google will send you an email every time it finds your keywords.
I often get their messages within half an hour after posting!
So, blogs are great to generate traffic, because SE's index your posts fast and frequently. I suggest you set up your own blog for that reason. And if you do, or if you're planning one, then make sure you first read my article Blogging for Profits.
But even if you don't do that, you can still profit from blogs to generate traffic to your site.
And that is by adding valuable comments to blog posts. Aside from your comments, you can also leave your name and URL, which means a free, one-way link back to your site.
People reading the blog and the comments may want to visit your site too, depending on the quality of your comment. That's free and targeted website traffic! And that's exactly what I did to generate this traffic to my blog.
Just a small note about these one-way links back to your site.
Most blogging software, by default, adds a tag to any comment-links, telling SE's that the link should NOT be followed. In such cases, the link back to your site will NOT be counted as link value while calculating your PageRank.
But there are a growing number of blogs, that actively use a DO follow tag to reward posters of valuable comments.

So here's what you have to do to get a free, one-way link back to your site.
Make a valuable comment on my blog and you'll get a link back. The page you're commenting on may not (yet) have a high PageRank, but that's a matter of time.
You may want to start reading some valuable Articles and Tutorials there.
Just don't say 'Nice blog' or 'Great post' or the like. These kind of comments are NOT valuable and I will delete them immediately.
Make it useful, interesting and related to the post, ok?

So far about generating targeted traffic on blogs.
Pay-Per-Click Traffic
If you want fast traffic results, you can use Pay-Per-Click systems, like Google Adwords. That's what's everyone recommends who writes about generating targeted website traffic. And it's true, only...
Adwords isn't getting easier. Competition is fierce and rules are getting more complicated every day. Lots of advertisers have been the victim of the so called 'Google Slap', Google's policy to punish unrelated keywords in relation to the landing page.
Lots of e-books available on the Net claim to have the answer, but what you really need to be successful generating traffic from PPC's is advise from an expert who's actually doing this, knows how to get great results AND gives you the actual information he/she used to get these results. The latter is where most ebooks fail.
Dane Bergen is such a person and his detailed step-by-step advice comes with examples he actually uses.
Like landing pages with the exact product he's promoting, ad examples for that same product and even an autoresponder series.
Oh, yes, Dane also explains how you can avoid the famous Google Slap!
It's a great resource and I can recommend it wholeheartedly. If you want to generate traffic (and make money) FAST, using PPC's, this is for you.
Free website traffic
While PPC traffic does cost you money, there still are lots of ways of generating free targeted website traffic. In fact, this is my main traffic resource!
You see, the real secret is:
discover where your targeted traffic is
and then just stand in front of it.
and then just stand in front of it.
Yes, it's that easy.
Like placing comments on blogs, you can also become a valued member of any forum community in your niche by contributing posts that contain valuable information. Thus, you soon will be recognized as an authority or an expert in some fields, which automatically will generate website traffic, because on most forums you are allowed to add a signature file with a link back to your site (check the forum rules first!).
Another example is making use of the rather new Web 2.0 movement, where you can network your way to free traffic, again by providing valuable and helpful content to your social partners. Of course there are also traffic generation techniques like viral tools, press releases, SEO, link exchanges, exit traffic exchanges etc.
Over the years, I got quite experienced in generating website traffic. Like my friend Willie Crawford. Here's what Willie says about free traffic:
The reality is that you HONESTLY can only master a few traffic generation techniques. Try to learn and implement too many different techniques, and you usually don't have time to get really good at any. I personally get hundreds of thousands of visitors to many of my sites every month. :-)I read Willie's report. It's simple and excellent!

Get that report, and even though it's only 10 techniques, start with just ONE. Implement just one technique today to drive traffic to one or several of your websites. Fully implement the second... really working it, and then consider going to a third.I have nothing to add to that either.
A key point of the techniques listed in my special report is that they can be used without spending ANY money. You can spend a little on automation, and save time, but it's not required.
