Online advertising targeted to niches | ||||||||

When it comes to online advertising, I'm a long time user of performance based advertising: the Pay-Per-Click programs. Basically you bid on keywords. Bidding high enough gets your ad displayed and you pay for each click. Perfect. Only ... When I fire up my Ad Word Analyzer to search for profitable keywords in the Internet marketing niche, it's clear that finding such keywords is getting more difficult each day. It's a never ending marathon with more contestants every hour. So, when an opportunity knocks to advertise to such a saturated market for as low as 5 cts per click what do you do? Investigate it! That's what I did. The results are below. Enjoy. Case How to advertise online to profitable niches. If you advertise online using Pay-Per-Click Engines (and to generate targeted traffic you really should), let me ask you a question: Are your keywords getting too expensive? Or are you looking for better alternatives? If you answered yes, then I may have found an outstanding alternative. Pay close attention, even if you are all new to this. There's a solution for all of you. Here's the story. A few months ago I was invited to participate in the beta-test for a new Pay-Per-Click program called Traffic Showcase. Actually I sort of invited myself. After attending an outstanding teleseminar about this new venture I contacted Kenneth McArthur, the owner who I already knew from JV-Alert, to discuss some matters and he then politely invited me. Yes, networking pays. I immediately accepted, because his program had an interesting twist: you do NOT bid on keywords. Instead, you can bid on categories or niches. Each niche contains a number of websites. Because, as a publisher, you have to select a category or niche you want your website to be assigned to. Then you use a wizard to generate some code, paste that into your webpages and the ads are displayed. You get paid for every click on those ads. To be successful as a publisher, you'd better pick a relevant niche so the ads displayed match your targeted audience. In the report-section of this advertising program you can check how the displayed ads are performing and what's very interesting, you can exclude ads within your category that aren't performing very well! That means you can weed out the losers and keep the winners. Advertisers, watch out! As an advertiser it sort of works the other way around. Yes, you can target a category and bid on it, but most of the time it will have many websites in it. Some of them will be profitable, some won't. Here's what's interesting: you're allowed to select any website within a category. You can even delete the whole category and pick only one website. And use your report-section to see if it performs. Publishers, watch out! The first phase of this beta test was to see if the software worked well. Bugs were reported and taken care of. All beta-testers got an advertising budget of 400 US dollars to burn. They had to set-up their site to show the ads and they were allowed to display ads using the budget. Although it just was 'play-money' the 'real-money' revenues from the ads were theirs. Ah, what a playground. The downside of this testing phase was that, since it was only 'play-money', bids raised sky high and ads weren't as targeted as they should be. But that will change now, since the program went into a new testing phase only yesterday. Now it's real money. The upside is that most ads can be displayed with a maximum bid of only 5 cents. You can also see the maximum bid for any given website, so if there's one that you like and bids are low for that site, that's the way to go. To use this program you need to be an experienced PPC-user. But in the previous testing phase there were a remarkable number of newbies or non-experts involved. They posted lots and lots of questions in the supporting forums and were educated quickly because of some great posts explaining in detail how the program works. But it wasn't until seasoned Internet marketer and good friend Sid Hale published an outstanding Bid Guide for Max Traffic and Profits that non-experts really took off. It's completely free and of outstanding quality. Sid compares the Traffic Showcase program with the traditional off line advertising, where businesses place their ads by finding publications that their target market is likely to read. By the way, talking about targeted traffic, Ad-Clix has the very best targeted traffic exchange program that I know. You see, in other exchange programs uninterested webmasters continuously click their competitor's ad just to generate the traffic. Ouch! Not so with Ad-Clix. Your ads in their program are seen by real website visitors! What I don't understand is that Ad-Clix is completely free! You would really miss out if you didn't sign up here. Anyway, Sid's outstanding guide is available for free at http://ad-CLiX.com/TS, so if you're new to all this, that's where you start. My conclusion from this first testing phase is that Traffic Showcase is certainly worth while the effort to try it out. I'm very curious how this will evolve. Success of this program greatly depends on the quality of advertisers. Unfortunately it doesn't come with an affiliate program. On the other side, you can earn a lot of money with it if you know how to use it well. I'm quite sure some savvy marketers will use it to their advantage. How about you? Want to give it a try? Here's your chance to get lots of clicks for as low as 5 cents per click. Sign up here: Traffic Showcase. And let me know what you think of it. That's it for today. Wish you success.
